New Super Mario Bros. contains two versions of the Super Mario Bros. Small Mario sprite. The one used in one of the bottom screen backgrounds (left) is accurate. The one used in the bonus room backgrounds (right) has a few differences, such as a pixel missing from Mario’s nose and his mustache extending further downwards and forwards. The reasons for including two different renditions of the same sprite are unknown.
