Yeah, they are one of my favorite animals! Unfortunately, they have barely ever entered the pet trade. A very tiny, black species has been kept by some people and even bred, but it requires almost freezing temperatures to survive!
One person on arachnoboards.com spent fifteen years trying to acquire some of the bigger, tropical velvet worms and has been documenting his progress but he says they’re still ultra-sensitive and need exact temperatures and moisture levels. He has this one, the most commonly encountered in their native range:

It may be many more years, if he is successful enough, for them to be available for sale :(
I guess this is why we don’t even see them at zoos.
