this is a dadaist, or"absurdist", shitpost. this is a sort of new-age take on a non-sequiter joke, which is a form of comedy that does not follow the traditional rules of it’s form, similar to modern art.

a few key components to note:

1. the text is broken up into two parts for no reason. this subtly hints that the poster was in some kind of frantic state where they had to get the information out, resulting in the necessity to tack on information (in this case, the second part of the joke) in a seperate reblog.

2. the use of a “limbo” meme. there are 6 states a meme can be in;

budding > growing > popular > unfunny > limbo > dank

when a meme stops being popular it goes into the “unfunny” state, where its usage is seen as trying too hard. after that, it goes into a “limbo” state where it isnt on anyones mind. “dank” is the final state in which it becomes appropriate to ironically use the meme. i chose a limbo meme because it, and memes from a similar era, are in the uncanny valley of memes: past the point where people are making the joke, but before people tend to start using it ironically. this surprises people, adding to the punchline

3. minimalism. making the brain work for a punchline dedicates more focus on the joke itself. since this is so compact yet so unmistakable, it will force the brain to take a moment to absorb the joke, strengthening the impact that it has.

thank you for reading.
